Doing a Little Work

Saturday November 17th
I woke up early today to go into Dornbirn and do make a little money. I haven't done any work or generated any revenue since I got here, so it was good for me. I met up with Konstantin, Mathias, Natsi, and Wendelin. Together, we ended up handing out about 1,000 fliers to people at the market. It was a cold morning, and I forgot gloves so by the time our 3 hours were up, I couldn't pinch my thumb and forefinger together because they were so stiff. My job was just to hand out fliers to as many people as possible, and I walked everywhere to do so. I was walking literally the entire three hours, and since the other 4 were handing out fliers too I had to be creative to find people who hadn't been asked yet. I walked a loop from the Rathaus, past Moses, around and by the Stadtmarkt, down to Humanic, through the park, around the backside of the church, by the Volksbank then back to the Rathaus through the middle of the market over and over again. At one point I also walked to the Bahnhof and up a different side street trying to find more people. I found that the better dressed people were more interested in my flier, since it was for hand bags. But mainly my tactic was to get someone to take it before looking at it, because if they looked at it they would realized they didn't need it because Tasche and Co only has really expensive stuff. After our three hours were up we only had about 20 left and felt successful. I made 40 euros in 3 hours, so I was happy with my work. I went right home, because after a long night, early morning and 3 hours of handing out fliers I was really tired. I took a rest, then joined the family to go to the grandparents house for visiting. Cake, coffe and merriment ensued. We had dinner back home, then I went to meet Thomas again. We hung out at his house for a while then went into town with Thomas Willingsdorf and Paul Hager. We met up with other kids here and there but they came and went. We spent most of our time in Cafe Klappe, then I took the train home again.
