Today we had a different program. We met at the Dornbirn Bahnhof later than usual, then walked to the WiFi campus. WiFi is not for internet, instead it is a large building with many different firms, and seminar rooms. We joined kids from about 5 other schools, and sat mixed up in our assigned groups. I ended up being with two people that I connected with quickly. One was Emily's host cousin, who I had played soccer with previously after the Herbst Markt in Wolfurt. Also, the other girl is a Rotex who was in France last year. So we got along well. The seminar was just 4 different guest speakers talking about business, planning your life, what to do after the Matura, running a company, working in a firm, motivation, etc. I didn't really get much out of it, but it was cool to meet new kids from the surrounding schools. This morning I woke up to the results of the 2012 Presidential election. The first thing I saw were Facebook posts immediately notifying me of Obama's victory. I am not strongly political anymore, but I think it is a good thing that I am for Obama, because everyone here is for him. They can't believe anyone in their right mind would vote for Romney, in fact they could't even remember his name, calling him "Rooney" half the time. Also, they were way into it. I got asked about it more than 40 times in the last week, and everyone was talking about it not even directly to me. I have begun to notice how often America comes up in school, casual conversation (not even with me), on the radio, and just in general. Hurricane Sandy was all over the news here, people asked me if my family was effected by it, it is crazy. When I left for my exchange I was ready for a new culture, and though there are some obvious differences the majority of Austrian culture is a bit tainted by the U.S. Well anyway, I left the seminar at lunch to go to my Deutsch Kurs in Lauterach. It was all well and good, I got some new music from Mark, nothing really out of the ordinary or interesting to report there.
